HI, I’M FRANCIS FITZPATRICK.
I started out as a lawyer — but for the past 30 years, I’ve been building stories for kids that travel the world.
This industry will test you. It’s creative, unpredictable, and competitive. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: stay true to who you are, and to the idea you’re trying to share with the world.
I didn’t get here alone. When I first stepped into the world of children’s media, I found mentors, partners, and collaborators who helped me grow. Now, after overseeing every project under the Futurum banner — from Jakers! to Paddles to what’s coming next — I finally have the chance to give that support back.
With a brilliant team beside me, I’ve built Futurum Consulting to help creators like you find your path. You don’t have to do it alone — and you don’t have to do it the “traditional” way.
Let’s build something real, something meaningful — together.
My Approach
My advice would be this: stay open to opportunity, but protect your core. If your IP’s heart is strong — its message, its values — then it can evolve into anything: a show, a game, a book, even something unexpected. I’ve found that loving this industry makes the setbacks easier to navigate. You get knocked down, but the passion keeps you moving. That’s what’s carried me through, and that’s what I try to pass on.
Dream it
Don’t worry about everyone else. Sound like you. There are thousands of kids’ shows and characters out there — but your voice, your story, and your perspective are what will set yours apart. In children’s media, authenticity matters. If your idea feels honest, it will connect.
Build it
Building your IP starts with structure. We help you shape the creative and commercial foundation, while staying flexible to new platforms, formats, and strategies. The industry is always changing. Being consistent in your vision, but open-minded in your approach, is what sets successful creators apart.
